CHRISTIAN LYTH TAKES WIN AT BELSTEAD

Ruskington motocross rider Christian Lyth was on good form at Belstead near Ipswich on Sunday when he rode to a win, second and third place in his three races to take the overall second spot in the opening rounds of the Norwich and District Championship.

This was the first time the 12-year-old had visited the Belstead track and he spent a considerable amount of time walking the course and examining the famous 70 foot Belstead Table Top which has never been cleared before by a SW85cc rider.

The opening race saw Christian get away to a good start and move into third place at the first corner. By the end of the lap he had hit the front and decided the time was right to make the break. He faced the big table top and hit it just right sailing straight over the 70 foot jump to establish a clear lead which he held to the chequered flag to secure the win on his first visit to the track.

Race two saw Christian away to a reasonable start but with a bit more work to do this time out. He seemed to have taken to the Table Top well, clearing it every lap to again take the lead. But the tricky S-bend section of the course slowed him down and he made a small mistake on the final lap at the S-bend and completed his race in second place.

The third and final race was a trial for Christian who made a bad start and found himself well down in the pack. But he battled his way through to complete his race in third place - enough to give him second overall on the day.

Christian won many new fans with his jumping goes down in the history books as the first ever SW85 rider to clear the Table Top.
